    Area Planning

    Goal

The planning of surface area, required during the production process, leading to finished products, is performed with this functionality.

    Introduction

As opposed to other production industries, area or surface requirement planning is a very important and crucial feature in horticulture. This particular planning is executed by the system, behind the scenes, during jobs creation. Initially every planning is tentative but, at a later stage, firm planning occurs. The required area against production yield is an important factor to be taken into consideration during production planning. As plants grow they need to be spaced accordingly and hence may demand more space at an advanced stage. In other words, area needed for the same number of plants may vary from phase to phase in production.

The components of data required for this planning are:

    • Lead-time
    • Quantity
    • Density

Lead-time is required in order to determine the length of time for which the required area should be reserved. Quantity and density are required in order to determine the required area itself.

The data necessary for such planning is derived from Activity Schemes.

    Examples

Some examples of area are for instance floor space, ground space etc.
