Microsoft Application
Goal
This document describes the new features and improvements related to Microsoft Applications introduced in the 2024 R1 version based on BC24.
What is new
Microsoft continues to invest in application richness, an even better user experience, and the integration of Business Central into other Microsoft stack products. Where the previous release was known for its improved integration with Teams, the focus now lies in adapting faster with the improvement of the Power Platform, for example, the Approval Processes via Power Automate - but also using synthetic Relationships to expose more Business Central Data in the Dataverse. In the Application department, the focus has shifted from Warehousing (which was invested heavily in BC23) to user assistance using Artificial Intelligence and Finance. AI is not just a buzzword; Microsoft is all-in. Copilot has been integrated into the Business Central client, allowing the user to ask Copilot questions about how to perform day-to-day tasks.
And that is just the beginning. Copilot is already embedded in the Sales Document processes to make, for example, order line entry simple for the user. It expedites the creation of sales documents and minimizes time spent on repetitive tasks and lookups. With its ability to accept various input methods, including free text, files, or prebuilt prompts, Copilot understands the input and can use it to create sales lines.
Mprise will continue on these developments and introduce tailor-made Copilot functionality to improve the user experience further.
Next to the introduction of Copilot, more than 30 new features have been added to the application itself, focusing mainly on Finance this time. To highlight just a few of the new features:
- Specify dimensions on posted entries applications with realized gains or losses
- Use deferral codes in purchase and sales journals
- Improve accuracy with general ledger account revaluation
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation by controlling cost adjustment
- Automate the reminders process in collections
